Obituary of Reginald (Sonny) Joseph Hunter

HUNTER - Reginald Joseph (Sonny) Hunter Born May 24 ,1945. Died August 25 , 2006, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. Predeceased by his father Fred in 1980, his mother Elsie (Romanoski) in 2004, son Bradley in 1993, and brother Ronald in infancy. He is survived by ex-wife Laverne, loving companion Patricia, sons Bob (Ramona), Dale and David (Bev), daughters Brenda and Tracey (Chad), eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sisters Carol (Gary), Frances (Dan), and nephew Roy (Rena). Sonny was born in Lumsden and lived around the area most of his life, settling in Disley. He started out as a mechanic in his early years working on farm equipment and eventually working at the City of Regina and International Harvester. His first love was trucking; after purchasing his own gravel truck and hauling for various outfits, he went on to highway tractors doing long hauls all over North America. In recent years he owned and operated RJ Hunter Transport hauling grain for various producers in the Lumsden and surrounding area. If it came by truck it arrived on timeand damn cheap too! He was loyal to his customers as his customers were to him. We all loved to listen to his stories and he was the centre of attention wherever he went. We loved his sense of humour and we will always love and miss him. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, August 28, 2006 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 29 at 11:00 a.m. in Lumsden United Church, Lumsden, SK with Rev. Darold Sauer officiating. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens at 4:00 p.m. (for everyone). Flowers most gratefully declined.
