Obituary of Alfred Henry Melnyk

MELNYK - Alfred "Alfie Henry Melnyk passed away on September 12, 2006 after a brave battle through illness at age 81. He was predeceased by his father Henry; mother Katie, both from the Ukraine; brothers, Edward, John, twin brother Archie, and his wife "Dot Carman (1982). Alfie children, Shelley (Rod) Johnson (Regina), Craig (Linda) Melnyk (Surrey, BC) and Stacey Melnyk (Regina) will cherish their memories of Dad. "Gramps will be remembered forever by his five grandchildren, Chad (Kim) Melnyk (Surrey, BC), Amanda Melnyk (Surrey), Courtney Johnson (Mike Gosselin) (Saskatoon), Jordan Johnson (Regina), Britton (Kirk) Cowman (Calgary); and six great-grandchildren, Elijah, Neveah, Tyra, Alixandra, Liam and Emma; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Alfies joy in life was his family. His love of cars was well known to all. Alfie was a stock car racer, car transport hauler, taxi driver and worked at numerous car dealerships on the lot. Alfie could often be seen cleaning off cars for friends up until March 2006. Car shows were his passion and there wasnt a car dad did not have a story about. Alfie had a heart for helping others including stray puppy dogs. His four legged "Scrapper will miss Dad. He looked forward to meeting his friends for coffee. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina with Pastor Kirk Cowman officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in memoriam, to Regina Food for Learning, Lunch Programs for Underprivileged Children, www.reginafoodforlearning.com (565-8632).
