Obituary of Joan Irene Atkinson

ATKINSON - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joan Irene Atkinson of Regina, SK on October 5, 2006. Born August 23, 1932, Joan is predeceased by her husband, Harry, infant daughter Marilyn Jean, and parents Chris and Irene Ast. Joan is survived by her loving family, Bev (Dan) Baber of Neudorf, SK, Glenn (Gail) Atkinson of Palgrave, ON and Chris (Noelle) Atkinson of Regina; grandchildren, Tanya (Fred), Josh, Chris, Shane, Claire, Henry and Stefan; great granddaughters, Jaida, Brooklyn and Abbey; sisters, Marlene (Ben) and Doreen (George) of Regina; nieces and nephews. The family wishes to sincerely thank the Palliative Home Care team for their excellent care, you treated Mom with dignity, respect and compassion and we thank each one of you. A very special thank you goes to Aunt Marlene whose unfailing love and support was a pillar of strength during a very difficult struggle. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, with Rev. Lindsay Hognestad officiating. A family inurnment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
