Obituary of Nellie Anastasia Adolph

ADOLPH, Anastasia (Nellie) - January 5, 1913 - October 15, 2006. In the quiet of Sunday afternoon, Nellie Adolph passed away at the age of 93 years. Our beloved Mother and Grandmother died peacefully, with family at her side. Nellie leaves to cherish her memory her son Robert (Calgary), daughter Darlene and son-in-law Stephen Walker (Saskatoon), son Edwin and daughter-in-law Janice (Regina); grandsons Keith and Neal Adolph (Regina); and numerous nieces and nephews. Nellie was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1981. Nellie and Edward were married in 1945 and spent several years in farming communities around Hafford, Saskatchewan. They made Regina their home, and raised their children in a house that Edward built. Nellie was an avid gardener. Her yard was filled with flowers from spring through fall and, no matter how the gardens of others might fare, Nellies garden was always bountiful. She was generous with her harvest and kept many households in canned fruits and vegetables all winter long. Cooking was another of her passions. Family and guests feasted at her table. Needlework and crocheting were how she relaxed. Her afghans were a welcome gift to family and are now cherished possessions. Nellie was the last surviving member of her immediate family, which included parents Alexius and Eudoxia Zypchyn; sisters Annie, Bessie, Mary, Warwara, Martha, Pearl and Helen; and brothers Fred and John. Nellie was a resident of the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home for the past four years. The family is grateful to the staff of Santa Maria for their compassionate care of Nellie, and for their many acts of kindness to her and our family. A celebration of Nellies life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20th in the chapel of Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home, 4215 Regina Avenue; Rev. Brent Kuzyk, presiding Celebrant.
