Obituary of Giuseppe Toniello

TONIELLO, Giuseppe (Joe) passed away in the loving arms of his family on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the age of 80 years at Regina, SK. Left to cherish his memory are his four children: one daughter Lonie (Ken) Carr of Regina, SK and three sons: Jori (Elizabeth) of Ottawa, ON, Dino (Shelly) of Regina, SK and Jamie (Becky), also of Regina, SK. Joe leaves behind eight grandchildren: Jolene (Tim) Paetsch of St. Denis, SK, Jared (Katie) Carr of Saskatoon, SK, Ginevra Toniello, Dylan Toniello, Kelsey Cuthbert, Hayley Toniello, Brandon Toniello and Samuel Toniello, all of Regina, SK. Joe was blessed with three great-grandchildren; Taylor, Keeley and Hayden, all of St. Denis, SK. Joe leaves behind a brother Sergio (Antonietta) Toniello of Regina and a sister Anna (Danilo) Dal Lago of Valli Del Pasubio in Italy. He will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews here in Regina and back home in Italy. Joe was born on June 3, 1926 in Valli Del Pasubio, Italy to Angelo and Ginevra Toniello. He emigrated to Canada in 1952. After working in British Columbia for a short time, he was on his way back to Italy when he stopped in Regina to visit some friends. Here he met his true love, Rita, whom he married in 1954. After a short and loving 50 years, Rita passed from his arms in 2005, a loss he never truly recovered from. Joe worked for the City of Regina in the Water Works Department. He retired in 1985 after spending over 25 years in trenches, ditches and holes around the city. In retirement Joe and Rita spent their years at the cottage and wintering in Las Vegas, looking for a warm, dry escape. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to Regina Palliative Care Inc., 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina S4T 1A5. Prayers will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in Little Flower R. C. Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina with Rev. Bill Mahoney as celebrant. Cremation will follow and a private ceremony will take place at Riverside Memorial Park.
