Obituary of Kenneth Cecil Grainger

GRAINGER - Kenneth Cecil, passed away peacefully at Regina General Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 18, 2006. Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, Ken was born on September 20, 1920 in Key West Municipality near Ogema, Saskatchewan to Chester Raymond and Emma Jane Grainger. Ken is survived by his wife of 64 years, Myrle (Cheesman); sons Gary (Doreen) and Donald (Diane); grandchildren: Darla (Thor) McDonald, Cara (Steve) Olasz, Dawn (Andy) Phillips, Audra (Mike) McAuliffe, Darren Grainger and Kenny (Andrea Low) Grainger; great grandchildren: Amber and Avary Olasz, Hannah and Odin McDonald, Mitchell and Grant Phillips, Finnian McAuliffe and Will Grainger; his brother Chester (Anne); sisters Blanche Nattrass and Berny Larson. Ken was a long-time and proud member of the Masonic Lodge (Worshipful Master, twice), the Shriners and Eastern Stars (Worthy Patron, three times). Ken enjoyed traveling, curling, bridge; was an avid golfer and Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. He was a member of the United Church. Ken farmed in Key West Municipality for all of his adult life prior to moving to Regina. Ken believed that family was the most important part of his life and has stated on many occasions if he could live his life over again, "I would not change a thing. Ken will be missed by all who remember his compassion, generosity and sense of humour. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of Ward 3E at the Regina General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing can make donations to the charity of their choice in honour of Ken Grainger. A celebration of Kens life will be held at the Ogema United Church on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Ogema Cemetery.
