Obituary of Edwin Rupert Bilcliffe Meredith

MEREDITH, Edwin Rupert Bilcliffe died December 5, 2006, age 87. He will be sadly missed by everyone he knew. Edwin Rupert was born in Stockton, Manitoba and moved to Gainsborough, Saskatchewan with his parents while still an infant. He was raised in the Gainsborough area. After working a few years in the post office and teaching school for one year, he enlisted in the Canadian Army in November 1941. After serving in Canada, U.K., Belgium and Holland, he was discharged in March 1946. Upon arriving back in Canada, he enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After graduating, Edwin Rupert joined the Saskatchewan Public Service and served in several departments in auditing and budgeting roles. He retired in 1984, and thereafter, enjoyed many happy years in retirement with family and friends, particularly his four grandchildren. Edwin Rupert is predeceased by his parents, George and Edith; and brother, Allan; as well as brothers-in-law Bill Slade and Dave McKinna. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita; and sons Ed (Twyla), George, Father Brian, and Ken (Sharon); and grandchildren Megan, Christina, Connor and Addison; sisters Joyce McKinna and Stella Slade; sister-in-law Audrey. Funeral Service will be held at St. Martins Roman Catholic Church, 4720 Castle Road, Regina on Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Ken Miller celebrant. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers gratefully declined.
