Obituary of Katherine Melrose Gutheil

GUTHEIL - In the early hours of December 31, 2006, Melrose Gutheil passed away peacefully at the Country Lane Care Home in Pilot Butte after a short battle with cancer. Melrose, 80, is sadly missed by her children Don, Daryl (Kathy), Brent, Dean (Donna), Deanna (Jamie), Lanny and seven grandchildren. Melrose is survived by her sisters Evelyn, Lois and Darlene and brothers Murray and Brian. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years Floyd, son Rodney and brothers Dean, Vern, Don, Kenny, Barry, Dale and sisters Trudy and Phyllis. Melrose was quite a character. She loved music, dancing and a good party. Its fitting that she would leave this earth on New Years Eve just in time to join Dad to bring in the New Year. Despite setbacks in her life, she maintained a positive upbeat attitude, a lesson for all of us. We will miss her terribly but her great spirit and fun-loving nature will always be with us and carry us through this sad time. Many friends of her children would frequently comment on how "hip and cool Melrose and Floyd were. To us they were Mom and Dad but deep down we knew they were pretty special; they were hip and cool. Special thanks to all the staff at the Country Lane Care Home who showered Melrose with tender loving care. A celebration of Melroses life will be held at Christ the King R.C. Church, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society,1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
