Obituary of Minnie Magdelena Scherle

SCHERLE - Minnie Magdelena (nee Wagner) peacefully left the arms of her family on January 15, 2007 at the age of 91. She was born on the family homestead at North Southey on January 12, 1916. She married Henry Scherle in 1934 and went on to look after her husband, their two daughters, two of Henrys brothers and his father on the Scherle homestead which was the gathering place for the entire family. In 1947 Minnie and Henry moved to a farm of their own where their only son was born. In 1961 they moved to Regina. Minnie expressed her love in many ways, but mostly she loved to cook and bake. Wherever she lived, she was known as the "cookie lady. Neighbourhood children always knew where to come for some home-baked treats. Minnies doughnuts were delivered across Canada to grateful grandchildren. Minnie was predeceased by her husband, Henry; son-in-law, Bill Babcock; grandson, Leslie Babcock and ten brothers and sisters. Minnie is survived by daughters, Joyce Babcock and Delores (Don) Cochrane; son, Darcy (Cheryl) Scherle; grandchildren, Kelly (Cindy) Babcock, Brian (Nicole) Babcock, Scott (Sherri) Babcock, Greg Cochrane, Terry (Julie) Cochrane, Wanda Cochrane; and great-grandchildren, Brad, Jeff, Kassia and Toby Babcock, and Cody and Josh Cochrane; as well as sisters-in-law Anna, Katherine and Edith Wagner. Minnies family would like to thank the staff at Parkside Extendicare (South Wing) for the kindness that they have shown to Minnie over the past few months and also to the friends who came to see her there. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2015 - 4th Avenue North with Pastor Terry Defoe officiating.
