Obituary of Joseph Keck

KECK - On Monday, January 22, 2007 Joe Keck passed away at the age of 78. Joe was born on August 13, 1928 in Gravelbourg, SK. Predeceased by his parents Konrad and Katherine; siblings John, Mary, Anne and Maggie, Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Iva; children Lynda (Rene), Harvey, Tim (Ronda), Brian (Francine), and David (Cheryl); grandchildren, Adam, Amy (Jason), Todd, Leah, Robbie, Madison, Zoe, Jordyn and Devyn; siblings Nick, Kay, Alice, Gerald, Jackie, and Fran; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dads grandchildren range in age from 24 down to 2 years and he enjoyed every moment spent with them. Their lives were enriched by having him as their grandpa. Although Dad had a limited education, he became a journeyman plumber and worked many years with Monarch Plumbing and Heating. He was a self taught mechanic, carpenter, electrician, and gardener. His vast general knowledge helped all of us over the years. We will always remember Dad for his off the wall sense of humour, his out of the air remarks and cartoon drawings of many of us. His love for mom was shown by caring for her through her journey through Alzheimers until he no longer could. Thank you, Dad, for all of the love and support you have given us. Although you were a man of few words we always knew we were loved by your actions. We will miss you greatly. Words cannot express our thank you to the great nurses and doctors on Unit 3E at the Regina General Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital for the excellent care given to dad during his illness. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 26, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Cremation and a private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make a donation, in Joes memory, to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., #301 - 2550 - 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
