Obituary of William James Loftus

LOFTUS, William James, born in Kitchener, Ontario on October 26, 1927, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by his parents Jonathan and Mabel; brothers Ed, Fred, Frank and Tom; sister Evelyn. Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorna; brother Bob; sisters Jean, Vimy, Sheila and Sandra; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill served in World War II then joined the RCMP and served 29 years retiring as Staff Sargeant. He then joined the Provincial Government Department of Consumer Affairs for 15 years. Bill was Past Master of NWMP Masonic Lodge #11. He had life memberships in Wa Wa Shrine, Wascana Preceptory, RCMP Veterans Association, and Friends of the Mounted Police Museum. In 2004 he received a 60-year pin from the Legion Branch #1. Bill was a member of the Shrine Drum Corp and 5-50 Units. Many hours were volunteered with 34 Squadron Air Cadets and Lakeview Church Cubs. Golfing and curling were his hobbies. "THANK YOU to all the doctors and nurses involved in his health care over the many years, especially the last two weeks at the Regina General Hospital, Ward 3F. By request there will be no funeral service. Inurnment will be held at the RCMP Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
