Obituary of Michael Patrick Murphy

MURPHY, MICHAEL (MICK) PATRICK SR. MAY 4, 1932 - FEBRUARY 6, 2007 It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Mick grew up in the North Annex where he met and married the love of his life, Marleen (Jackson) Murphy. They shared 42 years of a wonderful marriage together before her sudden passing in August 1997. Mick worked very hard all his life to provide for his family. He loved to play sports as a youngster and always encouraged his children and grandchildren to do the same. When he was not cheering in the stands, he was coaching on the baseline of the kids ballgames or on the bench of their hockey and soccer games. He always liked to challenge the refs or umpires into making the right call. As a true Irishman he always offered to have a pint of beer with them after the game. Mick will be lovingly remembered by his children, Sue Murphy, Cindy Lou (Larry) Wagner, Michael (Laurie) Murphy, Tom (Karen) Murphy; grandsons, Jason, Daniel (Nicole) Wagner; sister Marie (Ron) Hoyer; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Mick is predeceased by his parents, several brothers and his sister. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue with Cindy Lou Wagner officiating. Flowers most gratefully declined. Donations may be made, in memoriam, to a charity of choice.
