Obituary of Agnes Stanley

STANLEY (nee Bellegarde) - Agnes passed away peacefully on February 6, 2007 at the age of 94 years. She was predeceased by her husband, George; son-in-law James Parisien; great-granddaughter, Kyra Bitternose; brothers, John and Edmund Bellegarde; and sisters, Margaret McKay, Florestine Desnomie and Justine Pinay. Agnes is survived by her loving children, Eunice (Frank) Jewel of the USA, Joan (Ernie) Stanley of Vancouver, Marlene Parisien of Regina, Delbert Stanley of Lebret and Bev (Tony) Sparvier of Cowessess; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She worked in a variety of careers: for a farmer, government secretary, librarian, teachers aide at St. Pats School and was a receptionist at Wascana Institute. She was active in her church and community. Agnes volunteered for many positions, such as, the Friendship Centre Board of Directors, Vice President of the Regina Metis Society, and Provincial Treasurer of the Metis Society. She received an award called "Companion of the Order of the Gabriel Dumont Institute. She took classes at Revenue Canada and volunteered to help elders complete their taxes. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. A Christian Celebration of Agnes Life will be held on Friday, February 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, 1021 McCarthy Blvd, Regina. Interment will follow at Regina Memorial Gardens, Hwy #1 East, Regina.
