BREWINGTON - On Friday, February 9, 2007, James (Jim) Herbert Brewington, late of Regina, passed away at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by his wife, Ethel (2003), his sister Irene, brother Roy and parents Mabel and Bert, Jim is survived by his sister Audrey Cooper, brothers Ken and Dick Sargent; daughter Sheila Joly and her children, Brett and Kyle; son Jim (Jocelyn) and their children Amanda, Cameron and Elizabeth; and, numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was born on March 24, 1918 in Central Butte. He received his education in Moose Jaw and served in the Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force. Jim worked for the British American Oil Company in several locations across Saskatchewan. He met Ethel Nicholson in Yorkton and they were married in 1949. They were transferred to Regina where Jim operated the Garnet Service Station on Dewdney Avenue. In 1959, Jim became a Distributor for the Bowes Seal Fast Company, traveling throughout southern Saskatchewan to serve his customers. He retired in 1982. Jim and Ethel spent many enjoyable summers at their cottage at Katepwa Lake. The winters were spent in Regina where they were both actively involved in curling, bridge and volunteer activities at Wesley United Church. The love of Jims life, Ethel, passed away on Good Friday in 2003. In failing health due to Alzheimers disease, she was a resident of Extendicare Parkside Nursing Home for six years. Jims devotion to Ethel during her illness created a family legacy that will live forever. The family wishes to extend their deep gratitude and appreciation to the 2nd and 4th floor staff of the Santa Maria Senior Citizens home for the loving care given to Jim during his stay there. A celebration of Jims life will be held at Wesley United Church, 3913 Hillsdale Street on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 2:00 pm with Rev. John Haas presiding.
