KAZYMYRA - Bohdan Kazymyra, historian, educator, author, librarian, and archivist died peacefully on February 14, 2007 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his father, Dmytro in 1941 and his mother, Natalia Olha in 1976. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, daughters Nadia (George Dzioba), Marta (David Allan) and son Dmytro (Debbie Harvey). Loving Dido of Roman and Adrian Dzioba; Stephen and Michael Allan; Hannah, Natalie, Melissa and Jordan Kazymyra. Remembered fondly by his brothers-in-law Michael Dorota (Vera) in Kinnelon, NJ and Roman Dorota (Anizia) in Mukachevo, Ukraine, many nephews, nieces and their families, as well as numerous friends and colleagues. Born in Cherniiv, Ukraine on October 19, 1913. Graduate of Louvain University, 1935 (Licentiate, Political and Social Science); Lviv Theological Academy, 1941 (M.A., Theology); University of Vienna, 1955 (Ph.D. History); McGill University, 1956 (Bachelor of Library Science). A long time resident of Regina which welcomed him and his young family in 1959. Librarian and archivist, Department of Agriculture, Ottawa (1956-59), Saskatchewan Power Corporation (1959-69), University of Regina (1969-80). Prolific researcher and author of scholarly works. Member of numerous professional and community organizations. Association of Canadian Archivists, Canadian Library Association, Saskatchewan Library Association, Canadian Historical Association, Canadian Plains Research Centre, Shevchenko Scientific Society and the Ukrainian Free Academy of Arts and Sciences. Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Ukrainian Catholic Councils of Canada and of the Saskatoon Eparchy, and the Brotherhood of Ukrainian Catholics, Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association, and Plast-Ukrainian Scout Association. A principled man of great faith and integrity. A gentleman, respected for his diligence, his community work and perseverance. Funeral Service (Divine Liturgy) will be celebrated on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1757 Toronto Street, Regina. Rt. Rev. Rudoph Luzney, Rev. Leonard Romanow and Rev. Yurij Lazurko officiating. A reception will follow immediately after the service at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, "Concourse," 2180 - 23rd Avenue. A private family interment will be held later in the afternoon at Riverside Memorial Park. The family greatly appreciates the loving care and special attention provided by the staff of 3-5 Veterans' Wing, Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. Flowers gratefully declined.
