Obituary of Hervey Sykes

SYKES - Hervey passed away peacefully on Friday, Feburary 16th, 2007 at the age of 94 years. Hervey was born in Oldham, England and emigrated to Canada as a young boy with his parents and older brother. Predeceased by his parents Percy and Sarah and his beloved wife, Elsie, Hervey is survived by sons Dwain (Lola) and Randy (Vanessa) of Ottawa; grandsons Marc (Kate) of Toronto and Daniel of Ottawa; brother Norman (Mary); sisters-in-law Ada Brady, Millie Harker and Hughine Brady, all of Regina. Hervey was a dedicated and highly respected teacher and principal. Thank you to the entire staff of Regina Pioneer Village with special thanks to the caring staff of the hostel unit. Thank you to Marilyn Barr whose friendship and supportive assistance Hervey so greatly enjoyed and appreciated. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9th in Riverside Memorial Park, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East (please meet inside gate). A Remembrance Gathering to celebrate Herveys life will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street on Friday, March 9th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memoriam, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2360 - 2nd Avenue, Regina S4R 1A6.
