Obituary of Alma Fern Kells

KELLS - Alma Fern (nee Cameron), late of Regina, formerly of Stoughton, SK, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the age of 93 years. She is survived by her two loving sons, Wayne (Gail) of Salmon Arm, BC and Wesley (Lorna) of Red Deer, AB; four grandchildren, Andrew (Mary), Alison (Darcy), Andrea, Julie; one great-grandchild, Nolan. Alma was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard Albert on August 3, 2006; her parents, Hilliard and Minnie Cameron; three brothers, Wray, Harold and Frank; two sisters, Pearl Gall and Winnifred Hawton. Alma was born on December 27, 1913 on a farm near Tyvan, SK. She received her elementary and high school education in Tyvan. In 1933 Alma attended Normal School in Regina. For the next ten years she taught school in various country schools, ending her teaching career at Indian Head in 1945. The following year she married Albert Kells, a farmer, of Stoughton. While raising her two sons at Stoughton, Alma took an active part in the community. In 1965 the family moved to Regina where she continued doing volunteer work. For many years she worked with the Red Cross Blood Donors organization, Wesley Wheelers, and twenty years with Meals on Wheels. Alma liked games of all kinds, lawn bowling, curling, and especially playing bridge. In 1989 they moved into Rainbow Towers and then in 1999 they moved to Marian Chateau. In need of extra care they moved into a private nursing home in 2002. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina with Rev. John Haas officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. If desired, gifts of remembrance may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, #301 - 2550 - 12th Avenue, Regina. S4P 3X1.
