Obituary of Victor John ANDREAS

ANDREAS - Victor John Andreas passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 24, 2007. Predeceased by his parents, Cornelius and Amanda (Wiebe), Victor is survived by Elaine (nee Gregory) with whom he had shared his life for fifty-seven years and his children Victoria Elaine Elliott-Erickson and Gregory Bruce (Judith Rosenberg). He is also survived by five grandchildren: Melissa (Clint) Dobson, Jon (Lisa Nisbet) Elliott, Sara Elliott-Erickson, Jacob Andreas, and Claire Andreas. He loved them all dearly. He is also survived by his sister Vera (Jake) Hildebrand, and brother Cornelius (Mavis) Andreas, as well as nieces and nephews. Victor was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan and grew up on the farm; he attended rural schools for his elementary education. After finishing high school in Herbert, he attended the University of Saskatchewan where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then attended Normal School and taught in several communities in Saskatchewan. In 1961, he completed his Bachelor of Education degree also at the University of Saskatchewan. In 1962, he obtained a Certificate in Child Study from the University of Toronto and began a second career as an educational psychologist. He served the Weyburn area with the Department of Health for many years. He received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1972 and worked in the Department of Education as a special education consultant until his retirement. Victor enjoyed his retirement years and spent time reading and writing stories about his life and family. Drawing and wood carving were among his many hobbies. A Memorial Service will be held at Westminster United Church, 3025-13th Avenue, Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. S. Alan Schooley officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Westminster United Church Memorial Fund, 3025-13th Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1P1 or the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143, Regina, SK S4P 3G7. There will be a committal service at Saint Pauls Cathedral Columbarium for the immediate family. An on-line book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com
