Obituary of Kathleen Isabella Hamlyn

HAMLYN - Kathleen Isabella The family of Mrs. Kay Hamlyn deeply regrets her passing on March 27, 2007 at the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home in Regina. Kay was predeceased by her husband Frederick John Hamlyn; parents Clara and William Beatty; brothers Alvin (Winnie) and Russell (Ethel) Beatty; son-in-law Graham Everitt; brothers-in-law Tony Botter and Harry Hamlyn. Kay is survived by children Eleanor Everitt; Reg (Muriel) Hamlyn; Lorna MacPherson; grandchildren, Robert Shaer, Kristine (Ren) Santander, Scott (Anita) MacPherson; great grandchildren Dominic and Emilio Santander; Braydon and Isabella MacPherson. Kay is also survived by two sisters, Muriel (Donald) Bowman and Marguerite Botter; brother-in-law George (Linda) Hamlyn; sister-in-law Sheila Hamlyn; and numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her as "Auntie Kay. Kay was born March 1, 1915 in Manitou, Manitoba. In 1924 her family moved to a homestead in Saskatchewan and in 1929 Kay moved to Tisdale to complete her education. In 1934 she attended Normal School in Saskatoon and started her teaching career at Barrierford School. During the war Kay moved to Ottawa, Ontario where she worked for the Navy War Department. She married Fred in 1950. Kay raised her children all the while teaching school at numerous military bases throughout Canada, Germany and France. Kay was extremely close to all her family and will be sadly missed. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Friday, March 30, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Avenue, Regina. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park, 915 Assiniboine Avenue E., Regina. Donations in Kays memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2360 2nd Avenue., Regina SK, S4R 1A6.
