Obituary of Csaba Adalbert Komjathy

C.A. BERT? KOMJATHY, M.D.CCFP, FCFP Regina, Sask 1924 - 2012 After a chronic illness, Bert passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Born Csaba Bela Komjathy, he immigrated to Canada in 1956 during the Hungarian revolution. In Hungary he was a certified specialist in OB-GYN and practiced in Budapest from 1952 56. During those years he met and married the love of his life Mary Balint, a lab tech who worked in the small OB-GYN hospital to which he was assigned. Bert completed two years of additional post graduate training in Toronto and at the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital 1956 58. In 1959 he began to practice family medicine in Regina until his retirement in 1993. His first decade in practice was dedicated to the care of a large percentage of ethnically diverse? people. Bert spoke several European languages including German. He was a senior board member of the Regina Pasqua Hospital for several years, lifetime member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, former medical staff Regina General and Pasqua Hospitals and Fellow of the College of Family Practice. During the Canada Summer Games in Regina he was appointed lead medical liaison for the fencing events. He was predeceased by his loving wife Mary. Bert is survived by his son Dr. Gabriel Komjathy FRCSC (Debra), of St. Paul, Minnesota, his sister Edith Balogh (Komjathy), of Budapest, Hungary, granddaughters Catherine and Christine Komjathy of Minneapolis, Minnesota and cherished relative Agnes Dan of New York City. He maintained a high standard of care throughout his career. His scope of practice was very broad with a special interest and expertise in OB-GYN. He was very dedicated to his patients and they in turn, reciprocated. He loved Canada particularly the outstanding fishing of Northern Saskatchewan. He was extremely well read and was an avid fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He will be missed by all of those whose lives were touched by his caring and sincere manner. At Berts request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation. His remains will rest beside his wifes at Riverside Memorial Park. The family extends sincere thanks to the Palliative Home Care service of the Regina Health District, and the transfusion department of the Pasqua Hospital.
