Obituary of Charlotte Honor Higginbotham

HIGGINBOTHAM - Charlotte Higginbotham passed away peacefully in Regina on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the age of 99 years. She was born in Regina in 1907, the daughter of Milton Howe, proprietor of Howe's Jewelry, and Eva Ann Glover, who both moved to Regina from Ontario in the 1890s. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan and was an executive member of the University Womens Club. She married Chris Higginbotham, a well known Saskatchewan journalist and commentator in 1937. She was predeceased by her husband Chris, who passed away in 1977 and her three brothers, Fred, Glover and Gordon Howe. She is survived, remembered and loved by her son, John Higginbotham, a senior federal public servant, Michele, his wife, a teacher of English as a second language, and her grandsons, Matthew of Montreal and Ian of Ottawa. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Charlotte's longtime friend and companion, Jean Santer, to the warm and committed nurses and caregivers at Pioneer Village, where she resided after moving out of her own apartment four years ago, and to her niece Sue Giles of Kimberley BC, daughter of Gordon Howe who kept in touch so faithfully through the years.
