Obituary of Edith Grace Lawson

LAWSON - Edith Grace Lawson was born on March 4, 1916 in Shaunavon, SK. Edith is predeceased by her husband, Wes Lawson, by her parents, Robert and Edith Roycroft, her brother, Ted Roycroft, her sister, Mary Brownridge, her sister-in-law, Alma Roycroft and her brother-in-law, Russ Brownridge. Edith is survived by her step-children and their families; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edith obtained her teaching degree from the University of Saskatchewan and began teaching kindergarten in her home town of Shaunavon. She moved to Regina and taught in the Regina Public High School System, including stops at Balfour Collegiate, Scott Collegiate and finally Central Collegiate. Edith met her future husband, Wes, while they were both teaching at Balfour Collegiate. Edith was heavily involved in her church, Lakeview United Church, was a member of the Canadian Club and the Council of Women, supported and did volunteer work with Moral Re-Armament, now Initiatives of Change, and took a great interest in First Nations women and children. Edith spent her last years at Dove House and was grateful for the care provided by Dove House and its staff. Edith died on April 2, 2007. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Avenue, Regina with Greg Parker officiating.
