Obituary of Allan Wesley Wagar

WAGAR - Allan Wesley, born May 5, 1923 in Kelfield, Saskatchewan, passed away on April 12, 2007, at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Gwen Wagar; his wife of fifty-three years, Ruth in 1998; son-in-law Stewart Flegel; brother Howard of Rosetown and sister Freda Howatt of North Battleford. Allan is survived by his wife Verna M. Flegel; his children, Brad (Bev) of Calgary, Brenda (Ray) Mark of Regina and Joan Flegel of Calgary; stepson Richard (Joanne) Flegel of Regina; stepdaughter Donna (Larry) Olain of Saskatoon; stepson Bill (Kendra) Flegel of Lloydminster; stepson Ken (Brenda) Flegel of Regina; and stepdaughter Jennifer (Don) Johnson of Regina; eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Allan moved with his family to Loon Lake, Saskatchewan in 1933 where he received his elementary and high school education. He completed Normal School in 1941 after which he taught school for one year. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1942 as a pilot and ended this career as a Flight Lieutenant in bomber command. He married in 1945, and he and his wife Ruth had one son Brad and two daughters, Brenda and Joan. He received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan and was a Chartered Accountant. His work history included seven years with Co-operative Life as Comptroller, one year with Sherwood Credit Union as General Manager, eighteen years with Co-op Insurance (Co-operators) as Treasurer and Chief Executive Officer and three years with Co-operative Trust Company as Chief Executive Officer. He was a member of N.W.M.P. Lodge, Wa Wa Shrine Temple, Lakeview United Church and 600 Wing Air Force Association. Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, with Rev. Ronald H. Sutton officiating. Private interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the charity of choice.
