Obituary of Aileen Loretta Dawson

DAWSON - On Saturday, April 14, 2007, Aileen Loretta Dawson (nee Murphy) of Regina, passed away at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by her parents, Richard and Anne Murphy; her husband Tommy in 1981, brothers Shirley Murphy, James Murphy and Pat Murphy and sister Mary Hartney; brother-in-law Joe Hartney and sister-in-law Alice Murphy. Aileen is survived by her four children and eight grandchildren: Larry (Melissa) of Rouleau and grandchildren Laura and Megan; Paul (Marie Bouchard) of Regina and grandchildren Dillon and Isiah; Thom (Angela) of Calgary and grandchildren Nolan and Abby; Catherine (Greg Nesbitt) of Regina and grandchildren Daniel and Riley and step-grandchildren Mat and Sarah; her two sisters Teresa Boyes and Fran Bathurst; two brothers Lou (Marion) Murphy and Mike (Pat) Murphy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Aileen was born in Blaine Lake, SK and grew up in Moose Jaw, SK where she attended high school at the Convent of Sion. She married Tommy Dawson in 1951 and they moved to Regina. She worked at SaskPower until her children were born. After staying home to raise her children she returned to work at Woolco, where she worked until she retired. Aileen was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. When she was well, she never missed her sons or grandsons hockey games or football games. She loved life, was lots of fun and had a wonderful sense of humour. She loved to travel and had many wonderful trips abroad with her sisters and brothers. She loved lake life and spent many enjoyable summers with her children and extended family at her brothers cottage in Alberta. Aileens deep faith sustained her throughout her life, including the last few years when her health had diminished. Her strength of character, grace, charm and generosity were inspirations to all who knew her. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 7.00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. in St. Peters R. C. Church, 100 Argyle Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memoriam to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 - 8th St. E. Saskatoon, Sk.
