During a posting at Fort Frances, ON , he met Ruth Olsen. They were married in 1950 and have resided in Saskatchewan ever since. A career banker, he worked in twenty locations in Saskatchewan and NW Ontario over 42 years before retiring in Regina while continuing in a relief role for CIBC for six more years. Bert was active in community organizations including the Legion, Kinsmen, Board of Trade, Lions, and curling and social clubs wherever he lived. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Regina Branch #1, King Hiram Masonic Lodge #104, Regina Chapter #7 Order of Eastern Star and CIBC Retirees Club. His participation with the Regina Wa Wa Shrine and T-Bird Patrol were especially meaningful to him. He was an avid curler for over 65 years. He enjoyed camping with his family and traveling by plane, car and cruises with his wife.
