Obituary of Esther Bercovich

BERCOVICH - On Saturday, April 21, 2007, Esther Bercovich (nee Green) of Regina, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Esther was born in Toronto on March 7, 1930. She was predeceased by her parents David and Tilley Green and her brother Hyman Green. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Murray, daughter Marilyn, son Norman, grandson Benjamin Stueck, sister Beulah Raxlen, nieces and nephews and her many relatives and friends. Esther had a wonderful sense of humour and a zest for life. She faced her diagnosis of cancer with courage and dignity. Esther helped build the family business, Magic White Western Ltd., with her husband Murray. She was an active member of the Beth Jacob Synagogue, Haddasah-WIZO and past-president of Sisterhood. During the past 5 years she was on the Board of Directors of Breast Cancer Action Saskatchewan. Esther was passionate about her work with BCAS and was a mentor to other women who received this diagnosis. She loved the Arts and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Globe Theatre, Mackenzie Art Gallery and the Regina Symphony Orchestra. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Muhammad Salim, Dr. Carol Geddes, Dr. Lawrence Clein and the staff of Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care, Dr. Jim McHattie and Marilyn Bellows. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beth Jacob Synagogue, 4715 McTavish St., Regina. Interment will follow at the Jewish Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Action Saskatchewan, #E 2318 Assiniboine Ave. E., Regina, Sask.
