Obituary of Helen Marjorie Ewart

EWART - On Saturday, April 21, 2007, Helen "Marge Ewart, late of Regina, passed away at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents Lemuel and Ella and two brothers Donald and Jerry. Marge is survived by her daughter Linda Ewart of Regina, Cousins Eileen (Kennedy) Wheaton of Saskatoon, Carol Gray of Edmonton, Allan (Glendine) Gray of Regina, Ron (Myrtle) Gray of Edmonton, Dr. Norm Gray of Sacramento, Ca., Jim Gray of Sacramento, Ca., John Gray of Regina, Niece Heather (John) Irving of Barrie, Ont., Nephew Douglas (Vanessa) Kennedy of London, Ont., and numerous Kennedy and Gray cousins in the Maritimes. Marge married Jack during WW II in 1942. She did many activities to support the war effort. She loved to ride horses. After the war, Marge set up a life in Regina. She lived a short time in Victoria working for "Ask Mister Foster Travel Agency. In 1949, Marge and Jack started a family. As the years passed, she loved being a mother and homemaker. Marge played bridge and was a member of the Victoria Chapter of the I.O.D.E. In the 1960s, she helped to create the "May Time Ball. Through the I.O.D.E. Marge helped raise money for scholarships and bursaries for Post Secondary Education. She was a member as a docent for the Norman McKenzie Art Gallery. As Provincial Education Secretary for I.O.D.E., Marge was instrumental in creating the Travelling Art Program for schools, which has expanded throughout Saskatchewan. In the 70s, she became a member of Government House Historical Society and during the early 90s with her beloved friend Betty Westmorland helped to create the very popular Victoria Tea Room which is loved by Reginans and Tourists. And still at the time of her death, she was a member of the "Friends of the McKenzie Art Gallery. A Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave., Regina on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB, the McKenzie Art Gallery or the Government House Historic Society. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com
