Obituary of William Joseph Louis Adelard Giroux

Giroux, William (Bill) " He was born August 24,1920, near Forget, Saskatchewan. He lived most of his youth in the Kendal and Montmartre areas before moving to Regina where on Sunday, May 6, 2007, he passed away peacefully with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his most beloved wife, Anne (Putz), in 1989 and by his parents, Henri and Ida; brothers, Rene, Herve, Ulric, Emile, Denis, and Gerard; sisters, Yvonne, and Berthe; and also brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. Bill was so loved and will be greatly missed by his children: Guy (Laurette) of Gibbons, AB, Rhonda (John Stephenson) of Cobourg, ON, Gloria (Gary Kuffner) of Manotick, ON, and Janette (Bill Rieger) of Emerald Park, SK. Bill will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, for whom he had a very special love; Marcie (Barry Moline) of Sherwood Park, AB, Reyna (Christian Davey) of Edmonton, AB, Landon Giroux (Brandi Demers) of Calgary, AB; Garrett, Brendan, Alannah, Phillip, and Stephen Rieger. Bill was also proud to have two great-grandchildren (Tyler and Emma Moline). Bill is survived by his dear sister, Elise Labreche, and in-laws, Marie-Therese Giroux, Annette Giroux, Dorothy Putz, Mary Boyko, Eva Bolen, Tony Putz, Adam and Theresa Putz, and Betty Haughey; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was a proud Air Force veteran of World War II. After the war, he owned his own service station before working at Regina Motor Products, Martin Rubys Service Center and Imperial Oil. He was hard-working and an honest, trusted, mechanic. Over the years Bill gave his time and energy to various committees at work, church, school, and community. He constructed two family homes. He had great enthusiasm for cars, hockey, golf, gardening, aviation history, wildlife, and an array of hobbies from woodworking to puzzles. But family was his number one passion. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in Little Flower R. C. Church, 420 College Avenue with Rev. Danilo Rafael presiding. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bills memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2360 " 2nd Avenue, Regina, SK S4R 1A6.
