Obituary of Jacob Hofer

HOFER - Rev. Jacob Hofer, beloved husband of Mrs. Annie Hofer of Lajord Colony, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, with his family by his side on Friday, June 8th, 2007 at the age of 67 years. Jacob leaves to cherish his memory, nine children, Rachel (Joe) of Downie Lake Col. SK, Esther (Paul) of Pine Hill Col. AB, Susanna (George) of Riverview Col. SK, Ida (Joe) and Evelyn (Larry) of Earview Col. SK, Arnold (Betty) of Lajord Col. SK, Barbara (Andy) of Eagle Creek Col. SK and twenty-eight grandchildren. He will be remembered by his brothers, Paul (Mary) and Darius (Becky) of Lajord Colony; sisters, Annie (Eli) and Katie (Sam) of Rainbow Col. AB, Mary (Joseph) of Hill Crest Col. SK, and Susie (Paul) of Webb Col. SK. He will also be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Jacob is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Annie; brothers Joseph (Mary) and Benjamin (Elizabeth), and children David and Rebecca. Jacob was born on October 7, 1939 at Lakeside Colony. Eighteen years later in 1956 he moved to Spring Creek Col. SK. He married Annie on January 20, 1963. In 1965 he moved to Arm River Col. SK. There he was elected to be minister and in 1984 he moved to Lajord Colony. He took pride in teaching German and Sunday School for many years. Jacob always looked to the Lord for answers in his ministry. He also was a carpenter, there wasnt a thing that he couldnt fix or make. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday June 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in Lajord Colony. Interment in Lajord Colony Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Speers Funeral Chapel.
