Obituary of John Dobler
The death of John Dobler occurred at the age of 94 on June 13, 2007 at Parkside in Regina. John was born in Kleinliebenthal, Ukraine, in 1912 to Johannes and Rosalia Dobler. During the Russian Revolution his family was evicted from their farm and resettled in Odessa, where John worked at various jobs to support his mother and sisters. In 1941 he married Katja Marbach; shortly thereafter, World War II disrupted their lives and John and his wife, along with other members of his family, became refugees, fleeing Russia to settle in Germany during the final days of the war. They lived in Germany from 1945 - 1950, when the family immigrated to Regina, where John continued to reside until his death. John was predeceased by his wife Katja in 1980, an infant daughter and a son, and his five sisters. Left to mourn are his son Otto, Regina; daughter Irma (John) Peltier, Saskatoon; and granddaughter Sara (Mark) Oltsher, and great-granddaughter Samara-Sloane in Edmonton. John will be remembered for his skill at woodworking, his hospitality, and his enjoyment of friends and family.
Funeral Service will take place at Little Flower R. C. Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina on Wednesday, June 20th at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Bill Mahoney presiding. Interment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the staff at Parkside Nursing Home for their kindness to John during his final years.
