Obituary of Jean Priscilla Trew
Jean Priscilla Trew (nee Nelson) was born August 31, 1926 in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan, the youngest of Carl and Mollys children. Jean passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday November 13, 2005 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Jeans life was full. She enriched the lives of all who knew her with her strength of spirit. Jean was committed to supporting and improving her community. She began her career as a teacher in one-room schools. Her greatest joy was her family and friends. Jean and John raised their family on the Beechy Co-op Farm. She was active in all aspects of community life including church, womens organizations, softball, curling, hockey and track and field. She enjoyed sewing and knitting for her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean and John lived in Africa, Asia and South America and traveled extensively. She had a strong connection to nature. She loved animals and spent many hours birdwatching, gardening, planting and nurturing trees at the cottage on Lake Diefenbaker. Our world is a better place for Jean having been a part of it. Jean will be forever cherished and sadly missed by her husband of sixty-two years, John; sons Don (Monique), Ray (Joanne), Bob (Freda), Kim (Lorna), and Rusty (Joanne); eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Josephine, Lottie and Sandra (Don); sister-in-law Ivadelle (Joe), brothers Carl (Marjorie), Jack (Janie), and Gary (Karen); brothers-in-law Jim (Elva), Pat (Marion); and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina S4P 2R3 or a charity of choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina.
