Obituary of William McDougall Shanks

WILLIAM (BILL) SHANKS 1923 - 2012 William McDougall Shanks passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Bill was born in Lumsden on May 18, 1923 to William and Jane Shanks and he lived and worked in the area all of his life. He was predeceased by his parents William and Jane; and his sister Mina. He is survived by many cousins, other relatives, and many friends who were all very dear to his heart. Bill enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives, shooting pool and playing shuffle board at the Manor and the special Wednesday night meetings with friends. When he moved to Two Spirit Care Home he enjoyed the people there, plus the animals and especially his friend, Brandi, the little dog. We are grateful to his friends at the Manor, Cheryl in particular; Denise and Lee and the staff at Two Spirit Care Home who provided a loving caring home when he needed extra help in his day to day living. Finally, people who visited Bill while he was in the hospital and the nurses and doctors in wards 4A and 4B of the Pasqua Hospital who took excellent care of him in the past two months. Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrews United Church, 115 King Street, Lumsden, SK on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Marjorie Kent presiding.
