Obituary of George Lipon

LIPON - George Lipon passed away at the General Hospital in Regina, SK with his family at his side on December 4, 2005 at the age of 97 years. George was born in Megedia, Romania on March 13, 1908. Survived by his loving wife, Tillie of 69 years; two sons, Bill (Delores) and Art (Lois); and brother Bill; grandchildren, Terresa (John) Van Domselaar, Georgina (Patrick) Byrne, Stephanie (Doug) Antonio, Alan Gigi (Bev) Lipon, Dr. James Leslie (Cynthia) Lipon, Gary William Lipon; great-grandchildren, Devon, Nadia, Elizabeth, Timothy, Alex, Donovan, Zoe and Lucia. George is predeceased by his parents, Stoica and Maria Lipon, by his brothers and sisters Softa Lucan, Tinca Toma, Nick Lipon, Helen Vulpe, Constantine Lipon, Jennie Prepchuck and John Lipon. George and Tillie were married in 1936 and started farming in Stonehenge, SK where two sons blessed the union. In 1942 the family moved to Regina where George was employed with Burns & Company for 31 years, retiring in 1973 at the age of 65 years. Prayers will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 2005 Edgar Street, Regina. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. In St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 2005 Edgar Street with Rev. Cosmin Sicoe presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
