Obituary of Tillie Evaniuk

EVANIUK - Tillie, a long time resident of Regina, died on December 21, 2005 with her daughter by her side, at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by her parents John and Anastasia Zatwarnitski (nee Zenchyshyn) and her husband, John on October 31, 2002; she is survived by her loving daughter, Judy (John) Stadnyk and grandchildren, Sheila (Brad) Bohay, Ron (Melanie) Stadnyk, Debbie (Darren) Nyen, Dan, and Michael. Tillie was born May 4, 1922 on the farm homestead in Sheho, SK. She is the youngest of six children. Tillie had two sisters, Mary and Martha; also three brothers, Steve, Fred, and Matt. Tillie lived and worked on the farm until 19 years of age. She then moved to Vancouver, BC and found employment in the shipyards. After six months she returned back home to help her mother. Tillie loved working with the horses, plowing, disking, harrowing and stooking in the fall. She looked forward to attending dances around Sheho, Model Farm, Goodeve and area with her brother Matt, niece Nettie and cousin Mary. When she was twenty-one, Tillie married John Evaniuk from Yorkton, SK, on Sunday, August 1, 1942 at St. Marys Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. Tillie and her brother, Matt (Nellie) had a double wedding reception. Because of the war, there was a shortage of white fabric, therefore, Tillies wedding gown was blue and Nellies was pink. Tillie and John lived in Yorkton, SK; Port Arthur, ON; Moose Jaw; and Regina. Together they had one daughter named, Judy. Aside from taking care of Judy, Tillie also worked at Scott National, Moose Jaw, SK; the General Hospital and SaskTel in Regina. John and Tillie were married for 59 years. Tillie resided at the William Booth Special Care Home for the last 6 years. Her favourite pastimes were garden club, bingo, shuffleboard, visiting with her family and carpet bowling. She was passionate about her carpet bowling and HAD to win. Most recently, she was looking forward to the birth of her first great grandchild. She was a beautiful, caring, loving person and we are truly going to miss her. Until we meet again, God keep you in His care. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, December 26, 2005 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm in Speers Funeral Chapel, Regina.
