Obituary of Emmet Edward Reidy

REIDY - On Friday December 30, 2005 Emmet Edward Reidy, Judge (Retired) passed away at the age of 69 years. Predeceased by his parents Emmet and Kathleen Reidy, Emmet is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann (Pollock), children Jeffery, Michael (Tanya), Emmet (Shannon) and his grandchildren Samantha, Devin, Mitchell and Matthew; brothers, Tom (Lorna Mae), Frank (Giv) and Vince (Wynn); sisters, Ellen (Tony), Maureen (Lou), Pat (George) and Bernadette (Gerard); brothers-in-law, Dick (Judy) and Ralph (Agnes); sisters-in-law, Ellen, Trudie, Dean (Dennis), Betty (Jack) and Darlene (Bob); many nieces and nephews. Emmet was born October 30, 1936 on the family farm in Ceylon, Sask. He attended elementary and high school in Ceylon and Teachers College in Moose Jaw. Growing up he enjoyed numerous activities and sports and was a particularly accomplished baseball pitcher. He suffered a very serious car accident while teaching in Cabri. While recuperating in a Saskatoon hospital, he met his wife Mary Ann. They were married on April 15, 1963 in Swift Current. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1966 where they raised their three boys. Emmet along with his three brothers established and ran numerous businesses including Henderson Insurance, Henderson Hail, Reidy Travel and Reidy Motors. Emmet was appointed as a Citizenship Judge in 1980 a position he enjoyed for six years. He was also very involved in federal and provincial politics serving as both the Provincial Secretary of the Liberal Party (1963-1966) and Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party (1994-1996). Emmet was very involved in numerous professional and community activities throughout his life; Player/Coach/General Manager of the Cabri Bulldogs, Board Member of the Moose Jaw Warriors and President and Chairman of the YMCA/YWCA Building Committee. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martins Roman Catholic Church at 4720 Castle Road in Regina with Very Rev. Ken Miller presiding.
