Obituary of Cecil Roy Campbell

CAMPBELL - Cecil "Roy Campbell passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Department of Veteran Affairs Unit of Wascana Hospital on Monday, January 2, 2006 at the age of 87. Roy was born on February 18, 1918 at Morse, Saskatchewan and moved to Regina at a young age. Except for his war service years in Europe with the Regina Rifles, he was a lifetime citizen of Regina. Roy led a blessed and rewarding life. His greatest joys were found in his love of his family, his church and his cottage at Regina Beach. In July 1940 he married Mae Grant and they spent 60 years enjoying the company of each other, their children and finally their greatest joy, their granddaughters. Roy worked for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for 44 years until his retirement in 1983. Following his retirement, he remained active on his church board, spent time refining his golf game and enjoying his summers at the cottage. Roy will be fondly remembered by his sons, Guy (Lynn) of Regina and Grant (Vivian James) of Salmon Arm; granddaughters, Jodie (Jarrod) Bigalky of Regina and Jennifer Campbell of Regina. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Dorothy Tingley of Calgary and Loane (Tom) Forman of Escondido, California, his sister-in-law Marj Campbell of Ottawa and brother-in-law Glen MacNeill of Surrey, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mae (2000), parents Jim and Lodema, brothers, Victor and Charles, sisters, Ruby, Elsie, Margaret, Ida, Emma, Leitha, and Lois. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and friends at Regina Village and the staff and residents of Ultimate Care Home. They are especially grateful to the staff of the Veteran Affairs Unit of Wascana Hospital for their compassionate care of Roy and his family during his final hours. The Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 6, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina with Pastor Rudy Pastucha officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Regina Chapter, 1545C McAra Street, Regina S4N 6H4 or the charity of their choice.
