Obituary of June Christina Marshall

JUNE CHRISTINA MARSHALL June passed away peacefully on March 12, 2012 at the age of 89. Born June 22, 1922 in Toronto, Ont., to Leonard James and Vera Mary (Bott) Washer, June grew up in Toronto and St. Catharines before training as a registered nurse at the Hamilton General Hospital, graduating in 1947. It was through one of her classmates that she met her beloved husband, David George Marshall, marrying in 1948. June and David moved to Regina in 1952 where she was a stay-at-home mom for a few years before returning to nursing at the Regina General Hospital, Wascana Rehabilitation Centre and Phoenix House. A transfer sent them back to Kitchener, Ont. in the early 1970s, while another brought them back to Regina in 1977, where June remained involved in nursing, her family and church. Junes passion was nursing but she also enjoyed camping with her family, the cottage at Last Mountain Lake, and travelling with David to visit family in Australia, the United Kingdom and eastern Canada. June was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Vera, her husband David, sister Stephanie Herald and son-in-law Bill Milton. She is survived by her children, Peter Marshall (Trilby Jeeves) of Vancouver, Sue Marshall of Regina, Judy Milton of South Australia and Mim (Roy) Martin of Maple Creek; her grandchildren, Meghan and Andrew Marshall, Casey Marshall, and Brynne Martin; her sister Shirley (Richard) Bryden; ex-daughter-in-law Kate Pierpoint; and many nieces and nephews. Junes family would like to express their sincere thanks to those who provided five years of wonderful care at Princess Villa and for her last few months at Pioneer Village. A private family service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan (301-2550 12th Ave. Regina, S4P 3X1), or a charity of their choice.
