Obituary of Cecil Frank Sanderson

SANDERSON, Sandy (Cecil F.) Sanderson, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 11, 2006 at the age of 87. He was born on July 3, 1918 in Readlyn, Saskatchewan to Frank and Etta Sanderson. Sandy served in the RCAF during WWII. He asked his "RN sweetheart to wait for him and on September 22, 1945 he married Myrtle Larson in Saskatoon. Sandy graduated from university and together raised two children while living in Kindersley, Yorkton and Regina. His career was with Farm Credit Corporation where he spent a lifetime traveling his beloved "prairies of Saskatchewan. Sandy is survived by his son Murray, of Regina and daughter Sharyn (Don), of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a proud and loved Grandfather to seven grandchildren and two great grandsons. He was predeceased by his loving wife Myrt (in 1992), and grandson Matthew (in 2001). Just two weeks ago, the family gathered to Regina to honour Grandpa to share Christmas together. Throughout his life Sandy loved to exercise outdoors through tennis, lawn bowling, cross country skiing and walking. He loved people and has a long list of great friends he cherished during his lifetime. Sandy shared a close friendship over the past decade with Jean Duke who also enjoyed bridge, lawn bowling and brief trips to Victoria. Recently Sandy met an entire new group of friends during his past 18 months living at "The Bentley. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 14 at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel on Friday evening from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. and 45 minutes prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina S4P 2R3.
