Obituary of Bertha Marie Lyster

LYSTER, Bertha Marie (nee Legaarden) Died peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the age of 90 years. Bertha was born on June 28, 1915 in Carpio, North Dakota. Her family moved to the Kenlis district south of Abernethy where she was raised and attended school. Upon completing Normal School in Regina she returned to teach at the Kenlis School. In 1941 she married George Lyster and they raised their family in Abernethy and then Regina. Bertha will be remembered and loved by her husband of 64 years, George Lyster; children; Myrna (Barry) Thuen, Ed (Nancy), Jack (Linda), Joan (Wayne) Stock, Roy (James); grandchildren; Kelly, Kris, Sarah, Brogan, Sam, Clark, Amy, Megan, Kelsey, Ryan and Shawn, and great-granchild; Hannah, brothers; Norman (Gwen) and Chester (Maureen) and sisters-in-law; Gladys and Alva; as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Thorsten and Bertha Legaarden, brothers and sisters; Clara, Ellen, John, Asther, Albert, Edgar, Selma and Lars. Bertha was a devoted wife, mother and friend. We will miss her loving and gentle nature, and the kindness she showed towards all people. The family would like to thank the staff at Extendicare Parkside Home who provided Bertha with such good care. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina with Rev. Claude Schroeder officiating. A private family interment will be held at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
