Obituary of Mary Montan

MONTAN - Mary Sunday, January 15, 2005. It is with great sadness that the family of Mary wish to announce her passing on Sunday, January 15, 2006 in Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of 91. Mary was predeceased by her parents Anna (Stoian) and George Sr.; a sister in infancy and sister Florence; brothers Wesley, Danny, George Jr. and Johnny. Mary is survived by sisters Millie, Jenny, Virginia (Al Prince), Bernice (Tony Flaman), all of Regina; brothers Constantine (Laurette) of Abbotsford, BC; sisters-in-law Doris of Medicine Hat, Louise of Assiniboia and Marie of Regina; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was the eldest of eleven children, born July 24, 1914 to ever optimistic parents who immigrated to Canada in 1913 from the Village of Saraiu, Romania and established a homestead in Limerick Saskatchewan. Mary worked for the General Hospital and after 25 years retired and became a world traveler seeing and experiencing many aspects of different cultures and lifestyles. One vacation that was most memorable and one she talked about most lively was her trip to Romania where she was able to meet extended family members and discover her roots. Mary had a huge capacity to love and care for those around her as she devoted a great deal of her life providing guidance and direction to her parents and siblings. Her love did not go unnoticed as she was dearly loved by her family and those around her. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. An Orthodox Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. from the Sts. Peter and Paul Romanian Orthodox Church, Flintoft, SK with The Very Revd Mitred Archpriest (Prof. Dr.) Waldemar Kuchta officiating. Interment to follow at Sts.
