Obituary of Evelyn Dorothy Fulton

FULTON - It is with great sadness and yet a true blessing that Evelyn Dorothy Fulton was called to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. at the age of 79. Born December 19, 1926 Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Jesse and John Blair, her husband Jack, who she has missed dearly since his untimely passing in 1975, her sister Irene Rowe and brother Dr. William Blair. Evelyns memory will be lovingly and always remembered by her five children: Donny and Christine and their children Adam, Natasha and Britney; Jane and Kelly Numrich and their son Chad; Bill; Jack and Cynthia and their son Mackenzie of Tisdale; Joan and Rod Gawley and their children Jane, Stacey, Jessica, Sasha, Jared, Sony, and Jillian; as well as five great-grandchildren. Also survived by her loving sister Verna Stewart in Burlington, Ontario. Growing up in Regina, Evelyn attended Albert Elementary and Scott Collegiate. On June 19, 1948 Ev married her best friend Jack. They loved taking the family on trips which included California, Hawaii and Minot. She had her Royal Life Saving distinction in swimming, and became an expert swimming instructor. Throughout her life, she taught thousands of people how to swim right on the shores of Regina Beach and at the pool at their cottage. She was an active member at the Regina Beach Yacht Club where the family spent many summers. Evelyn was President of her own company, Fulton Building Ltd. for the past 31 years. Among other activities, Ev was a member of the Regina Beach Golf Club, the Regina Golf Club, Regina Skating Club, the Regina Diving Club, her bowling and curling leagues. Evelyn was a very active person both before and after her accident in Hawaii in 1984, which left her a quadriplegic. She had such a zest for life and never let her limitations hold her back from doing whatever it was that she wanted to do. For twenty-two years she has graced the hallways of the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre with her advice, jokes and laughter. She loved to travel and made a point of visiting Las Vegas on numerous occasions where she loved to "live large. Ev continuously amazed everyone with her detail to memory and great wisdom. Most importantly, with all the challenges Ev was faced with, she did so with humor, faith, grace and dignity. She has certainly taught us all what the true meaning of life is all about: to live each day to its fullest and to never take anything for granted. She was always concerned that your life was okay and would offer advice. Ev had a social circle of friends who have remained steadfast and true to this day; Honorable mention of these friends include Lucille Gusway and Daryl Chandler, and countless other devoted and life-long friends, too numerous to mention. We would like to thank all the staff at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for all their care, love, compassion and support. Ev loved to talk! And made for a very great listener. "Mom, we love you and miss you so much and we thank you for sharing your life with us and being a great friend. God Bless! The family invites all of Evs friends to a special viewing on Thursday, January 26th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. A Funeral Service celebrating Evelyns life will be held on Friday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Craig Moeller officiating, followed by a luncheon and interment.
