Obituary of Gordon (Gord) George Dickson
DICKSON - Gordon (Gord) George Dickson, late of Regina, beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away on February 9, 2006 at the age of 97 years. Predeceased by his wife of sixty-three years, Madge Dickson in 2003, Gord is survived by children, Donna Ward and Brian (Darlene) Dickson of Calgary, and Susan Boyd of Regina; grandchildren, Dawn (Art) Taylor, Darren (Sheriann) McInnis and Darcy (Cori) McInnis of Calgary, Craig and Lesley Dickson of Calgary, Randi Boyd of Moose Jaw and Michael Boyd of Regina; five great grandchildren; sister Mrs. Jessie (Gordon) Pinches of Lethbridge; sister-in-law Mrs. Grace Cuthbert of Regina; numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins; neighbours Karen and Brian Rennie. Gord was also predeceased by his mother Margaret (Maggie) King Dickson, 1960; father George Dickson, 1956; sister Marguerite Swain, 1998; brothers, William in infancy, 1905, Leslie, 1994 and Stanley, 1966. Gord was born in Regina on October 2, 1908. Gord and his brother Les operated a corner store until WWII. Gord and Madge married in 1940 before he went overseas where he served in Germany, Holland, France, Belgium and the UK. When Gord returned to Canada, he worked for the army, the post office and the RCMP, retiring from the RCMP Barracks in 1973. Gord moved into his present house in November 1955 and remained there until his passing, something that he was very proud of. Gord was a true Roughrider fan and maintained his season ticket as long as he could and listened to or watched every game. GO RIDERS!!! In keeping with Gords wishes, there will be no service. Donations in his memory may be made to the Regina Public Library, Outreach Services, Meals on Wheels, or a charity of the donors choice.
