Obituary of Adelina Magdelina Zimmerman

ZIMMERMAN - Adelina M. (nee Braun) - It is with great sadness that the family of Adeline Zimmerman announce her passing on February 12, 2006, peacefully with her loving family at her side. Last surviving member of the Braun family, Adeline was born December 22, 1919 in Regina and attended St. Joseph Elementary School and Sacred Heart Academy where she made many life-long friendships. She married Frank Zimmerman on February 6, 1945 and together they raised five children. Her family was her greatest joy. Adeline loved to entertain. Her birthday parties, at which she opened her heart and her home to countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, were legendary. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome, and the family home was always a hub of activity featuring spectacular meals or just a quiet cup of tea and a chat. Her understanding and compassion for others were exemplified in her daily life with family, and in the way she effortlessly made new friends wherever she went. Adeline loved playing bridge among other card games and was a skilled and competitive player all her life. She and Frank were devoted to their family, church and community and always made time to visit shut-in relatives and friends. Adeline was an ordinary person of extraordinary poise, grace and dignity. She was predeceased by her loving husband Frank in 2001, and by parents Anton and Regina Braun, brothers Anton (Tony) and Arthur (Art), sisters Barbara Metz and Marie Hauck, and grandson Robert Edward Davis in infancy. Adeline is survived by four sons Arthur (Sandra) and children Sharie, Jordan and Brooke; Eric and children Ronald, Tara-Lynn (Kelly) Brems, and Christine (Cory) Pirlot; daughter-in-law Cheryl; Douglas (Christine), Ryan (Carmen) and Sarah; and Michael (Diane); and one daughter Marie Carol (Wayne) Davis and children James (Kerri) Mitchell (Natalia), and Michael (Trista). Left to mourn Great-Grandma are Eric, Kayleigh, Kyle, Nicholas, Hailey, Christopher, Harley, Matthew, and Mykayla. Adeline will be also greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Prayers will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 16 at 12:00 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament R. C. Church, 2049 Scarth Street, Regina, with Rev. Emmett Morrissey presiding.
