Obituary of Lee Allister Nicholas

NICHOLAS - Lee Allister (1918 - 2006), late of Milestone, SK, passed away peacefully on February 17 at the age of 87 years. Lee was predeceased by his daughter Sharon in 1964; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nicholas; his brother Marion and an infant brother Gerald. Also predeceasing were his sisters-in-law, Bertine Nicholas, Mae Nicholas and Doris Sambrook; brothers-in-law, Walter Sambrook and Ken McKim. Lee is survived by his wife of sixty years, Jean; one daughter Joan (Neil) Henry; two grandchildren, Greg (Michelle) Henry and Renee Henry, as well as three very special great granddaughters, Taylor, Sarah and Tessa. Lee is also survived by one brother Harry Nicholas and sisters-in-law Gladys McKim and Ida Sambrook. Lee was part of a very large close family and so leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lee was born and raised on the farm south of Milestone. IN 1942 as a soldier in the 11th Canadian Armored Tank Brigade he went off to war leaving his fiance behind. Lee and Jean were married in January 1946 and continued to live on the farm. While farming and raising their family Lee was very involved with the United Church, the Co-op and the 4-H. During their semi-retirement they took up square and round dancing which led to many new friends and many fun times. In the last few years Lees health had deteriorated but he still continued to enjoy playing cards with his many friends at the Drop Inn. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in Milestone United Church, with Rev. Kevin Johnston officiating. Private family interment. Flowers most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donation, in memoriam, to the Milestone United Church Memorial Fund, Milestone, SK S0G 3L0 or the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, 225 - 1874 Scarth Street, Regina, SK S4P 4B3.
