Obituary of Ann Leger-Anderson

LEGER-ANDERSON - Ann Leger-Anderson, Professor Emerita of History, passed away in Regina on Wednesday, February 22, 2006. A Service of Remembrance will be held TODAY (Thursday) at 2:00 p.m. in St. Pauls Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina with The Very Rev. Duncan Wallace officiating. Inurnment in St. Pauls Columbarium. Born in Pennsylvania and a graduate of Ursinus College, Clark University, and the University of Iowa, Dr. Leger-Anderson came in 1966 to the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus, to teach in the Department of History. Over her nearly forty years of service to the University, Dr. Leger-Anderson taught a wide variety of courses in a range of areas including American history and womens history, supervised honours and graduate students, and published on prairie womens history. She took an active role in the administrative life of the Faculty of Arts and the University, including a lengthy tenure as chair of the publications committee of the Canadian Plains Research Centre. Upon her retirement from the Department of History in 2004, Dr. Leger-Anderson was granted the title of Professor Emerita of History. Ann remained deeply involved in various community and arts organizations, served on the editorial board of the (Encyclopedia of Saskatchewan), and was a Research Fellow of CPRC.
