Obituary of Dr. George Wilkinson Sykes

SYKES, Dr. George Wilkinson Sykes, born April 16, 1928, passed away peacefully at the William Booth Wascana Grace Hospice on Friday, March 24, 2006. Preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Clara, George is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Elizabeth of Regina; son, Robert George of Calgary; daughter, Elizabeth Mary Eckert of Ottumwa, Iowa; grandchildren, Edward Eckert, Robert Eckert, George Sykes and Vivian Sykes. George was born in Marsden, Yorkshire, England. He received his medical degree from the University of Leeds. He was a dedicated country doctor providing medical care day and night to patients in the Touchwood Hills for 36 years. He was a member of the Anglican Church of Canada, the Legion and Gyros. Special thank you to Dr. Clein and the staff at William Booth Wascana Grace Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in All Saints Anglican Church, 142 Massey Road, Regina with The Rev. James Buenting officiating.
