Obituary of Maria Elizabeth Koch
KOCH - Elizabeth (nee Ludwig). It is with great sadness that we as a family announce the passing of a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the age of 93 years. Predeceased by her dear husband Philip; infant daughter Rosemary; daughter Beverly Anne (Bronius); parents Rosina and J. J. Ludwig; brothers Edward, Herman, George; sister Edith Langford; step-sister Charlotte Sims; sisters-in-law Ruby Ludwig, Fran Ludwig, Eva Ludwig, Mary Ludwig, Leah Ludwig; brothers-in-law John Cooke, Kim Langford, Carl Stoll, Joe Vogl. Elizabeth is survived by daughter Lorna of Toronto; grandson Cory (Jennifer) Huber of Regina and their children Madison and Reise; granddaughter Jo-Ann (Mark) Broda of Langley, BC and daughter Stephanie; son-in-law John Bronius of Calgary; grandson Jason Bronius of Calgary; granddaughter Kimberly (Wayne) Steel of Calgary; sister Helene Vogl of Toronto; brother Albert (Maria) Ludwig of Victoria; sisters-in-law Chris Cooke, Adelaide Phillips; brother-in-law Roger Phillips; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Elizabeth was born in Melville, SK in 1912 and moved to Broadview, SK in 1914 where she spent her childhood. She moved to Winnipeg in 1927 and there she married Philip Koch on January 1, 1938 and moved to Regina. Elizabeth taught sewing for the Department of Education Adult Services division for 15 years. She started working for Pearlmans Ladies Wear in 1972 and retired in 1996 at the age of 84. Elizabeth was well known for her needlepoint pictures and her love of sewing. She was active in the Dorothea Inga Memorial Circle, Trinity Lutheran Church Altar Guild, Trinity Lutheran Church Sewing Circle where she loved making quilts and knitting. She joined Trinity Lutheran Church as a member in 1938. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Cory Huber and Jo-Ann Broda, who looked after their grandmother. She will also be deeply missed by her Great-Grandchildren, Madison, Stephanie and Reise. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue on Friday, March 31st from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30p.m. Funeral Service and reception will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 1909 Ottawa Street with Rev. Lindsay Hognestad officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeths name can be made to the charity of your choice.
