Obituary of Tara Gnanaprakash Gokavi
GOKAVI, TARA_ Tara Gokavi, wife of the late Christian Suchit Gokavi, passed away peacefully in Regina, on March 30, 2006, at the age of 84. She will be sadly missed by her sons Winston (Cynthia) Gokavi, Saskatoon; David (Florence) Gokavi, Saskatoon; Solomon (Robin) Gokavi, Perth, Australia; William (Vineetha) Gokavi, Toronto; daughter Christina Gokavi, Regina; grandchildren Katherine (Greg) Gokavi-Whaley, Tanya, Margaret, Elizabeth, Esther, Tara, Joseph, Ruth and Solomon Gokavi; and greatgrandchild Sarala (Melbourne, Australia). She is also mourned by Dina (Don) Mitchell, Australia; Walter (Anne) Gokavi, North Dakota; Agnes & Peter Kotiah, Virginia; Daniel (Olga) Tatpati, Kansas; Lalitha Tatpati, Suvina (Roland) Palanna of Bangalore, India, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives in India and abroad. Born in Hubli, South India, on February 12, 1922, Tara moved to Canada in 1980 with her husband Christian and daughter Christina to be with Winston and his family. Tara was a strong Christian with a living faith that manifested itself in her day to day life. She raised her children in the Faith and by example, built into them strength of character and a `never give up' approach to life's circumstances. A Celebration of Lifeservice in her honour will be held at the Regina Apostolic Church, 808 Assiniboine Ave. E., Regina, on Saturday April 15, 2006 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Solomon Gokavi leading. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association or Regina Apostolic Church.
