Obituary of Julia Nakonechny

NAKONECHNY - Julia Nakonechny (Kreway), age 86 years, passed away unexpectedly April 18, 2006. Predeceased by her husband Bill in 1998; her parents William and Maria (Lewko); five sisters: Pauline (Mike) Obuch, Helen (Willie) Kotylak, Edna Machula, Pat (Sam) Battaglia, Caroline Kryway; two brothers, Nick and Walter Kreway; and brother-in-law Frank Nakonechny. Julia is loved and will be dearly missed by her daughters: Lorna (Larry) Zatlyn of Prince Albert, and Cathy (Brian) Klatt of Regina; five granddaughters: Nicole Zatlyn (Jason Weiner) of Boston, Michelle and Kimberley Zatlyn of Toronto, Sarah and Christine Klatt of Regina. Julia is also survived by her sisters, Rose (Alex) Halinak, Kay Nakonechny, all of Toronto, Natalie Kreway of Ituna; brothers, Michael (Hazel) Kryway of Windsor, Leon (Verna) Kreway of Ituna; sister-in-law Nettie Kreway of Ituna and brother-in-law Paul Machula of Toronto; her husbands brother Tom (Kay) Nakonechny of Fort QuAppelle; his sister Frances Molesky of Calgary; and sisters-in-law Olga Nakonechny of Regina and Emily Shalovelo of Dysart; and many nieces and nephews. Julia was born and raised in Ituna, SK. In 1944 she married Bill and moved to Leross, SK where they enjoyed over forty years in a successful farming operation and an active community life. Julia was an exceptional cook, gardener and a gifted needlework artist. In 1997, Julia and Bill moved to Selo Gardens, Regina to enjoy their retirement and to be closer to their family. Family gatherings were always a special occasion, much anticipated by her grandchildren. When studies and work took granddaughters farther away, Julia would write, telephone and send their favourite treats. With a cheerful disposition and warm manner, Julia enjoyed the many friends that she and Bill made. During their life together, they travelled to Europe, different parts of Canada and the U.S., but most enjoyed visiting with their family. Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1757 Toronto Street, Regina with Rt. Rev. Msgr. R. Luzney presiding. Interment to follow in St. Vladimirs Cemetery, Kelliher, SK.
