Obituary of Lilian Pearl Bye

BYE - LILIAN PEARL passed away quietly Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Grace Hospice in Regina. Pearl was born at Portage la Prairie, Manitoba June 3, 1920. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, December 3, 1995. Pearl is survived by: son Raymond Bye (Elaine), Vanscoy, Sask; daughter Terrill Cairns (David), Port Coquitlam, B.C.; six grandchildren: Andrienne Prest, Ottawa; John and Robert Bye, Moose Jaw; Kara Barclay (Doug), Cold Lake, Alberta; Sherrill and Tyler Cairns, Port Coquitlam, B.C. Great grandchildren include: Dary Barclay, Calgary; Taylor and Raelle Barclay, Cold Lake, Alberta; Wrenna and Mier Prest, Ottawa; Amanda Weighill, Regina and Adrian Bye, Moose Jaw. With brief stays in Brandon, Man., Winnipeg, Man., Port Arthur, Ont., Pearl arrived in Regina in 1948 with her family and eventually worked at J.M. Sinclair Ltd. and Sears catalogue center for several years. Over time, she was active in the Western Star (CNR Firemans) Lodge, Order of the Royal Purple, local Bunko club and Bowling Leagues at the old Bolodrome. Pearl will be remembered as a good friend and always had a smile and a story to brighten ones day. Until this year, she lived comfortably in her Regina home, enjoying music, knitting for others, social outings for cards or to celebrate special occasions, monthly lunches with retired Sears co-workers and caring for her yard which has many types of flowers and shrubs. At Pearls request, there will be no funeral. She hoped that family and friends would set aside a moment to remember her as one of lifes truly good people. Pearl asked, and the family concurs, that heartfelt thanks be expressed to her neighbor Glen for many years of kind help. She requested, as does her family, that gratitude be expressed for the friendship and family involvements extended by Joan and Gary Gallinger who welcomed her as part of their family. The family extends sincere thanks to Pasqua Palliative Care team members Barb Hale, Ross Larden, Dr.s McMillan and Clein. Thanks as well to Dr. J. McHattie for his skill and support. Thank you to the Region home care workers and those at Helping Hands Home for their assistance in caring for Pearl at her residence. Many thanks are extended to the palliative care team at Grace Hospice for their superb treatment and compassion for Pearl in her final days. Pearl requested that anyone wishing to do so, could extend an offering in memorium to Grace Hospice at the William Booth Special Care Home. A memorial service may be held in the future and notice will be given.
